At its meeting on 5 December, Council considered the outcomes of the Strategic Plan Stage 1 Consultation as well as the Batch 4 Policy Review. With the exception of two policies, this completes all policy review work for the year and we would like to thank everyone who has provided feedback on one or more policy documents during the year.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

There are a few more days until the Foxfield Oval Hall Building Options consultation closes. Check out the proposed building plans and have your say by 4pm, Monday December 2023.

Council is also seeking your feedback for its Community Satisfaction Survey. Let us know how we are doing - what are we doing well and what needs to improve? This consultation is open until 4pm, Monday 15 January 2024 so there is still plenty of time to get involved.

We hope you are managing to stay out of this heat as summer really starts to takes hold in South Australia. Council has information about preparing for the fire danger season as well as tips to help keep you and your family safe during extreme heat. Check out our website for more useful information.

How satisfied are you with Council? This is your chance to provide feedback on our operations, including areas where we could do better. We're also seeking input on the upgrade of Foxfield Oval Hall and Council's draft plan to help you age well in the community.

Community Satisfaction Survey: How are we doing?

What do you think of Council's services, facilities and performance? Every two years we run the Community Satisfaction Survey to find out how we are doing and to help identify areas for improvement.

Complete our survey by Monday 15 January 2024 and you could win one of two $100 Why Leave Campbelltown vouchers.

Foxfield Oval Hall Building Options

Council is exploring three building options for the upgrade of Foxfield Oval Hall located on Maryvale Road in Athelstone. Watch our short videos for an overview of the three options as well as a tour of the existing condition of the Hall. Further details on each proposal are available on our website.

To get involved, you can:

• Attend our Community Talking Point from 4-6pm on Wednesday 29 November
• Fill out a survey online or in hard copy
• Send us an email or letter with your thoughts on the proposals.

To enable us to consider your feedback, please let us know our thoughts by Monday 11 December 2023.

Draft Ageing Well Plan 2025

Strategic Plan 2028

Paradise Recreation Plaza

Construction of the Paradise Recreation Plaza is progressing well as we head toward its planned completion in early 2024.

Lochiel Park Recreational Areas Master Plan

Onsite discussions on the opportunities and the planning, development and management of the Lochiel Park Recreational Areas will be held on Sunday 5 November at the Lochend Community Hall. These will be led by Lesley Humphreys from LMH Consulting.

• 2.00pm – 3.30pm

Magill Community Battery Lease Update

At its meeting on Tuesday 19 September 2023, Council noted the results of the recent community engagement and agreed to grant a 15 year ground Lease to the Department for Energy and Mining for the purpose of installing a Community Battery on Tuku Wirra Reserve in Magill.

Council also agreed to arrange for an attractive and non-invasive surrounding to the battery to reduce its visual impact.

Referendum Community Information Session

Council’s Reconciliation Advisory Committee is holding a ‘Referendum Community Information Session’ for Council residents.

This is an information session about what the referendum is and how it works. The panel includes a Senior Counsel to speak on the constitution and Campbelltown local First Nations residents. The session is not about what to vote as Council does not have a position on this.

Cool Refuge Project - Update

Council recently conducted consultation with the community regarding whether it is appropriate to establish a Community Refuge in our Council area. Staff are finalising analysis of the survey, and will shortly report outcomes to the Climate Solutions Advisory Committee and Council.

The Working Group has been involved in two workshops. The first focused on how we should define a cool refuge and identified necessary amenities (such as outdoor space, Wi-Fi, entertainment, pet accessibility, showers, air-conditioning, access to public transport, etc.), and potential usage scenarios. A follow up workshop worked through what might be needed to conduct a cool refuge trial, including which types of Council facilities might be used for this purpose and other suitable facilities that could be investigated.

Further information will be shared following consideration of the community and working group outcomes by the Committee and Council.

Report issues such as potholes, hazards and graffiti, discover local events, find nearby parks and facilities, get waste reminders and more with the FREE My Local Services App. You can also report a concern using one of the forms listed on Council's website.

Magill Community Battery Lease Update

Council will consider the results of the recent community engagement on the Magill Community Battery Lease when it meets on Tuesday 19 September 2023 at 7.00pm.

The full report is available on the Council agenda. You can also listen to the discussion in person by attending the meeting in the Council Chamber at 172 Montacute Road, Rostrevor.

You may recall that during August we asked the community to comment on a proposal to grant a lease to the DEM (Department of Energy and Mining) for the purpose of installing a community battery.

This aims to deliver renewable energy at the cheapest available residential electricity rate in South Australia to low income and vulnerable households in Magill (namely Housing SA tenants).

Council’s role is to provide a 15-year ground lease of community land at Tuku Wirra Reserve, Magill. Further details about the project are available on Connect 2 Campbelltown.

New Community Engagement Officer

This month we welcome Michele Williams to Council as our new Community Engagement Officer.

Michele has extensive experience managing engagements with local communities and is looking forward to working with you soon on a range of exciting projects including:

• Community Satisfaction Survey
• Strategic Plan - Data Gathering
• Open Space Strategy

Later this month we will be consulting on The ARC Lift proposal with ARC Users. If you are a member or user of the ARC, keep an eye out for communications about this consultation opportunity available soon.

Lots of changes are happening in the former skate park area!

Please keep clear of the construction area so that we can keep the project moving along and get this fantastic new facility open for everyone to enjoy as soon as possible.

Strategic Plan 2028 Survey– Share Your Ideas!

This week, if you are a ratepayer, you will receive a survey for Strategic Plan 2028 in your Snippet (provided with your Rates Notice). For residents and other interested persons, please consider the opportunity below, or collect a survey from Council’s Office, Campbelltown Library or The ARC Campbelltown.

Help set the future direction for our city by completing a Strategic Plan survey (electronically or in hard copy) or send us an email or letter to share your thoughts about:

• what you like most about living, working or studying in our city
• your ideas for something new that you would like Council to do,
• whether there is anything you would like us to do differently.

There is also an opportunity to tell us what you think of Council's vision 'A safe, sustainable, vibrant Community' and mission 'The Community is the centre of everything we do'.

This information will be used for further discussion with the community and to inform drafting of the Plan later in the year.

Lochiel Park Water Tank Mural Progress
