Draft Disability Access & Inclusion Plan 2025 - 2029
Background
Council is committed to building an inclusive and accessible community for all. This means building a place where everyone, regardless of age or ability, feels valued and has a sense of dignity, pride and belonging. To support this, Council has a formal Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee and has had a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) since 2010.
In 2018, a change in State Government law made it mandatory for all Councils to have a DAIP aligned with the State Disability Inclusion Plan.
A new State Plan is now in place and we have drafted our next iteration of the DAIP for 2025-2029 to align to that Plan. Our Plan incorporates feedback received from people living with disability, their family, carers and disability service providers at focus group sessions held in July 2025, alongside insights from our many years of ongoing work in the disability space.
About the DAIP
The Draft DAIP 2025-2029 links to our Strategic Plan 2028, Disability Access & Inclusion Policy and the State Plan. You can read the full version of the DAIP or an EasyRead version if you prefer.
The structure of the DAIP is based on our Community Wellbeing Plan and has the following goals:
1. Our People
2. Our Place
3. Our Culture
The DAIP ensures that we are planning and implementing actions that build an accessible and inclusive community for all.
