Update

This consultation was reported to Council at its meeting on 16 February 2021 and the Plan was adopted.

A copy of the adopted Plan is available in the Supporting Documents section. The report to Council is available on pages 51-110 of the Council Agenda 16 February 2021.

Feedback received during the consultation process (details below of Consultation) is currently being reviewed and will be presented back to Council in early 2021.

Council’s Draft Economic Development Plan builds on the research, considerations and actions contained within the existing Economic Development Plan to set the high-level direction and focus for our economic development efforts. The development of the Draft Plan has involved a thorough review of the economic development initiatives undertaken by Council since the existing Plan was adopted in April 2018, and a re-evaluation of the economic development priorities for the coming four years.

What's being proposed?

The proposed new Plan is an update reflecting the current economic conditions, providing information on recent economic development achievements and setting the overarching direction and focus for our economic development efforts over the coming four years. The Plan is based around four key Themes each with a number of Focus Areas.

About the Plan

In preparing the Draft Plan, consideration was given to a number of factors including the current economic environment, feedback from local businesses and key stakeholders, and Council’s overarching strategic direction.

The four key Themes in the Plan are:

  1. Supporting Job Growth
  2. Encouraging Education
  3. Embracing Innovation
  4. Improving Living

Consultation closed 5pm, Monday 16 November 2020
