Master Plan location - Lochiel Park Recreational Areas
Through its consultant LMH Consulting, Council is currently conducting Stage 1 consultation with local residents and Park users, as well as key user groups in the project area, to establish a united vision and planning priorities for the Master Plan.
Lochiel Park is located adjacent to the River Torrens in Campbelltown in a setting amongst large gum trees and other native species. It is 15 hectares in size, incorporating some 12 hectares of open space comprising natural areas, wetlands, playgrounds, trails and an oval. The land is designated for the purpose of parklands and this includes use of the land for the recreational, wellbeing and environmental needs of the community, and for the preservation of natural assets.
The main facilities within the Recreational Areas include:
Playground
Basketball key
Oval
Public toilet
Lochend House
Lochend Community Hall
Ripples ArtShed
BBQ / picnic facilities
Walking trails
Tree plantings
Car parking.
What's being proposed
Council is interested in hearing from local residents and key user groups about their priorities and ideas to further improve the site. Considerations include, but are not limited to:
Opportunities to support dog exercise
Opportunities for encouraging nature play and connection
Improved linkages with the natural surrounds including creek line and trails
Support for a range of recreational activities
Current and emerging community needs.
It should be noted that the Master Plan is not specifically proposing any changes be made to Lochend House, Lochend Community Hall and the Ripples Artshed buildings themselves, but these facilities are located within the project site and have important connections to the open space of the Recreation Areas.
