Project update Summary (November 2021)

In December 2020 and January 2021 Council asked the Community what they would like to see in an upgraded playground at Tranquil Court. There was 100% agreement among consultation participants to upgrade the playground. The sorts of park features most popular in the consultation were:

  • natural climbing play
  • basketball ring
  • play bridge
  • cubby house
  • inclusive trampoline (able to be accessed by wheelchair users)
  • learn to ride track

Council staff have prepared a Draft Concept Plan and will soon engage with the Community to seek their feedback.

The Community Engagement Outcomes and Draft Concept Plan can be viewed from page 83 of the Council Agenda here.

Thank you to everyone for Connecting with Campbelltown and providing your feedback and ideas.

Background

Tranquil Court Reserve in Campbelltown is a hidden away reserve that is accessible via Tranquil Court and Peaceful Court. The reserve features basketball facilities, grassed areas for running around and a shaded playground suitable for pre-school and school aged children. Tranquil Court Playground is valued and used by the local Community. Recent Community profiling in the area indicated that there were more than 2,000 families in the area and over 1,300 children from 0 – 14 years.

What's being proposed

A safety audit has highlighted that the slide, wooden bridge and basketball ring require attention and upgrading to meet safety standards. The climbing net also no longer meets safety standards. This playground is one of Council’s older playgrounds nearing its end of life cycle. Council is recommending a full playground replacement and this is an exciting opportunity to review what would be most valued in this location.

Further information is available in our information sheet.
