Council has recently been working on selecting projects for its 2026/2027 Draft Annual Business Plan & Budget to be considered at its meeting on 5 May 2026. UPCOMING DECISION - 21 April 2026

Let's Talk Thorndon Park

At its meeting tomorrow night, Council will consider the outcomes of the Stage 1 consultation for the revised Thorndon Park Master Plan. During Stage 1, we sought comments from the community on a range of ideas proposed by Council, as well as inviting new ideas from members of the public for a revised Plan for the park.

RECENT DECISIONS

Padel Sports at Foxfield Oval

Recently, we invited Community members to participate in consultation on a proposal to establish Padel sports at Foxfield Oval. The results of this engagement were reported back to the Council meeting on 7 April.

After lengthy debate, Council decided not to pursue this project.

Waste & Resource Recovery Strategy

Last year, Council undertook consultation on the establishment of a strategy to turn waste into resources for a thriving circular economy.

Council considered the outcomes of this consultation at its meeting on 7 April, and agreed to adopt the Strategy as presented.

Hectorville Road Refuge

Council recently undertook a closed consultation with 142 local residents and the St Joseph's School at Hectorville regarding a potential new pedestrian refuge adjacent to the Hectorville Road shops.

At its meeting on 17 March, Council considered the outcomes of this consultation and agreed to proceed with the installation of the pedestrian refuge.
