Council has developed a Draft Open Space Strategy and we’d love to hear your thoughts!

Our City contains nearly 400 hectares of open space that serve many important functions for both people and the environment. These areas support water harvesting, provide habitats for wildlife, increase canopy cover, help cool the city, enhance biodiversity, and deliver essential ecosystem services.

Beyond their environmental value, these spaces offer scenic beauty, attract tourism, boost the economy, and provide places for movement, activity, and recreation. They also have the power to heal, uplift, protect, and connect us. Given their vital role in supporting physical and mental health, they should be considered an integral part of our health system.

Our Vision

The Draft Open Space Strategy provides Council with a strategic framework for the planning, development, management and use of all Council-managed open spaces over the next 10 years and beyond. Our Vision is for:

A diverse open space network for our community and our environment
