Background

Thorndon Park is our principal park, as well as the most accessible and inclusive park in our City. Featuring the historic reservoir and an all-inclusive play space, the park is a major attraction for all ages and abilities.

With several projects including upgrades to the playground, car parking and Hamilton Terrace completed in recent years, Staff are now developing a revised Draft Thorndon Park Master Plan.

To support the development of the Plan, we are seeking Community feedback on a number of considerations being explored including:

• Enhanced entry and sense of place

• Improved oval space

• Enhanced biodiversity (particularly the wetlands and perimeter plantings)

• Enhanced lake edging and interface

• Opportunities for less-structured play

• Revamped central plaza space and kiosk

• Car parking

• Potential relocation of the amphitheatre to the pavilion zone

• Opportunity to refresh and/or repurpose heritage buildings e.g. for special events such as weddings

• Opportunity to provide accommodation e.g. a small number of camping/caravan bays with minor amenities block

• Any other items.

How you can get involved:

You are invited to contribute to the development of the Plan in one of the following ways.

• Contribute to the online Ideas Board (see below)

• Attend our on-site Park Pop-Up on Saturday 8 November from 11 am – 1 pm on the picnic lawns near the main car park

• Print, complete and return to Council a hardcopy Feedback Form

• Email a submission: mail@campbelltown.sa.gov.au Subject ‘Feedback – Draft Thorndon Park Master Plan’

• Write a letter: Community Engagement Officer, Campbelltown City Council, 172 Montacute Rd, Rostrevor SA 5073.

• Phone Council on 8366 9222 for any questions or to talk with Emily.

Consultation closes: 4 pm, Monday 24 November 2025.
