We have prepared a strategy to guide how our waste management and how Council and the Community can work together over the next five years to create a circular economy where products and materials are reused, repaired, or recycled instead of being thrown away.

Contract Management Policy

Commencing 1 September, we will be consulting on a new Policy that has been prepared to guide staff who have responsibility for managing contracts. Whether you are a supplier, contractor, or have a general interest in these processes, you are invited to provide your feedback on this document before Council considers adopting it.

Coffee Chat - Friday 2 September

Next month we will be visiting St Georges Bakehouse from 2pm - 3pm to provide you with a chance to share ideas or raise issues with Mayor Whittaker OAM and Staff in an informal setting. No need to register, just drop by and say hello!

Draft Open Space Strategy consultation now open

We’ve created a Draft Open Space Strategy for nearly 400 hectares of Council-managed land - and we need your feedback.

With close to 70 parks and reserves, 64 playgrounds, three community gardens, one community orchard and 20 kilometres of creek line, there’s a lot for Council to care for. Our Draft Open Space Strategy provides a framework for the planning, development, management and use of these areas over the next 10 years and beyond.

Find out more at Connect2 Campbelltown where you can review the Strategy then share your thoughts by completing the online survey or uploading a video submission. Consultation closes 4pm Monday 14 July.

What do you think of the Draft Transport Plan initiatives?

2025 / 2026 Annual Business Plan & Budget

Council received the feedback on our recent engagement on the Draft 2025/2026 Annual Business Plan and Budget at its meeting on 17 June 2025. You can view the Community Engagement Report HERE.

The final 2025/2026 Annual Business Plan and Budget will be adopted by Council at the next meeting on Tuesday 1 July 2025.

From transport and open space planning to a new food event and our regular coffee chat, there’s a lot happening across Campbelltown. Read on to find out how you can get involved and have your say.

Do you walk, cycle, drive or catch a bus?

Our Draft Transport Plan for Athelstone, Campbelltown, Newton and Paradise proposes a range of initiatives aimed at making the way you travel safer and easier.

Drawing on the feedback we received during the earlier consultation held late last year, these initiatives address roads and traffic, public transport, parking, walking and cycling. Campbelltown City Council Boundary Change Inquiry

There's still time to share your views on the proposed change to the Campbelltown City Council boundary.

The South Australian Local Government Boundaries Commission is conducting an inquiry into a proposed boundary change that would see parts of Rostrevor and Woodforde (including Hamilton Hill and Rostrevor College) become part of the City of Campbelltown.

Draft Open Space Strategy

Consultation on our Draft Open Space Strategy opens soon.

Draft 2025/2026 Annual Business Plan & Budget consultation results

Council will receive the consultation outcomes for this project at its meeting next Tuesday (17 June).

Don’t miss your chance to tell us how you would like to see your rates spent

Consultation is now open on Council's Draft 2025 / 2026 Annual Business Plan & Budget. This outlines the services and projects we intend to deliver for our community in 2025 / 2026, the proposed rate changes and the budget overall.

Your feedback will inform Council decisions about the allocation of the budget and help determine what will be funded in the next financial year.

Campbelltown City Council Boundary Change Inquiry

The South Australian Local Government Boundaries Commission (the Commission) is conducting an inquiry into the proposed change to the Campbelltown City Council boundary. The change would see parts of Rostrevor and Woodforde (including Hamilton Hill and Rostrevor College) become part of the City of Campbelltown, allowing residents of these areas to have their say about facilities and services that many of these residents already use and enjoy.

The Commission has appointed BDO, an independent body, to undertake an investigation and provide recommendations on the proposal. To learn more and have your say about the proposed change, visit yoursay.sa.gov.au/campbelltown-boundary-review. Consultation closes 5pm, Friday 20 June 2025.

Next Steps in the Representation Review

Earlier this year we asked the community for feedback on a proposal as part of the Electoral Representation Review that would reduce the number of wards in the Council area from five to four. Under this arrangement two wards would have been represented by two councillors, while the other two would each be represented by three councillors.

Council reviewed the Community Engagement Outcomes Report on this proposal at its meeting on Tuesday, 18 March. As the community response was mixed, with some in favour and others against the proposal, Council decided to re-visit the potential ward structure. We will be seeking feedback on a further option in a few weeks (note: under legislation Council is only able to present one option to the community at a time). Keep an eye out for more information on Connect 2 Campbelltown!

Committee Vacancy: Economic Development Advisory Committee

If you have skills and experience in the business sector and an interest in local economic development, you may like to consider a current vacancy.

Council is looking to fill an Independent Committee member position on its Economic Development Advisory Committee. This is a two year appointment (until 30 November 2027), with sitting fees paid for all meetings attended.

Elector Representation Review

What do you think of the proposed ward structure?

We're keen to hear the community's views on a proposal that would reduce the number of wards in the City of Campbelltown from five to four by adjusting the existing ward boundaries. These new wards would be named Foxfield, Lochend, Marybank and Murray.

This is one of the proposals contained in the Representation Review recently completed by Council to ensure its electors are fairly and adequately represented. Further details are available at connect2.campbelltown.sa.gov.au, Campbelltown Library or the Council office.

Feedback is welcome from all members of the community. You do not need to be enrolled to vote to submit comments.

Consultation closes 4pm, Friday 14 February.

Magill Campus Community Engagement

There's still time to contribute to the future of the Magill Campus.

Renewal SA is seeking the community's ideas on opportunities for the site that will inform the Magill Campus Structure Plan. Follow this LINK to share your thoughts by Monday 10 February.

FUTURE PROJECTS

Transport Plan (North)
Stage 2 of engagement on our Transport Plan for the area north of Montacute Road will commence in late February / early March. Keep an eye on Connect 2 Campbelltown and future editions of this newsletter for details.

CONSULTATION OUTCOMES

The Behavioural Support Policy and the Enforcement Policy on which we sought the community's feedback late last year were endorsed by Council at their meeting on Tuesday 21 January 2025. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Magill Campus Community Engagement Extended
Renewal SA has extended the engagement period on the Magill Campus to Monday 10 February 2025. Details of how to submit comments as well as further information about the project is available at this LINK.

COMPLETED PROJECTS

Lochiel Park Recreation Areas Draft Master Plan
Following consideration of the consultation feedback on 17 December 2024, Council decided to adopt the Lochiel Park Recreation Areas Master Plan as presented but excluding the proposals for the regulatory dog on leash and off leash areas. This means there will be no change to the existing leash arrangements at Lochiel Park.

FUTURE PROJECTS

Representation Review Consultation opens January 2025
Council is required to review its structure every 7-8 years to ensure fair representation for residents and a balanced workload for our Councillors. We've been working through such a review and propose having 4 wards, a Mayor and 10 Councillors from the 2026 Local Government elections.

Community members will be invited to comment on the proposed changes as outlined in the Representation Report from Monday 20 January 2025. Keep an eye on Connect2Campbelltown for further details and the opportunity to share your views.

COMMUNITY INFORMATION

Campbelltown Cool Spaces
With predictions of a long hot summer ahead, Council has established 'Campbelltown Cool Spaces' to provide community members with some respite. When a severe or extreme heatwave is declared by the Bureau of Meteorology cool spaces will be available at the Campbelltown Library, The ARC Campbelltown and St Martin's Anglican Church (Paradise).

Christmas Closures
The Campbelltown Council Office will be closed from 5 pm on Tuesday 24 December 2024 until 8:45 am on Monday 6 January 2025. Should you require urgent assistance during this time, please call our after hours emergency number on 08 7071 3701.
